Oscar-winner RENEE ZELLWEGER took time from filming new movie MISS POTTER to
attend the unveiling of a statue honouring children's author BEATRIX POTTER in
England's Lake District.
The COLD MOUNTAIN star, who is currently shooting her role as Potter alongside
EWAN MCGREGOR in the picturesque region, hoped the 4.5-metre (15-foot) bronze
monument would become "a distinctive local landmark".
The work of art depicts a group of children releasing JEMIMA PUDDLE-DUCK back
into the wild, and is a feature at the Lake District's World Of Beatrix Potter.
Zellweger said over the weekend (22-23APR06), "It brings the whole Miss Potter
story to life to be in the places where Beatrix lived. "Arriving in the Lake
District is like the culmination of the journey we've been on these past few
weeks."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Renee Zellweger has dropped
out of the Americanized remake of The Eye, the Asian horror pic set to be remade
by Tom Cruise's Cruise/Wagner production shingle.
Zellweger's departure means The Eye is now officially in turnaround at
Paramount. The actress will instead star in another Par horror flick, Case 39,
this one for Misher Films and Anonymous Content.
Case 39, scripted by Ray Wright, reportedly "centers on an idealistic social
worker (Zellweger) who saves an abused 10-year-old girl from her parents only to
discover that things are not as they appear."
No director is set yet but filming begins July 31 in Vancouver.
Zellweger is currently filming Miss Potter, a film about children's author
Beatrix Potter opposite Ewan McGregor. She's also been linked to Piece of My
Heart a Janis Joplin biopic, but there's no timetable for the latter project.

Fashion fans in Hong Kong are cursing RENEE ZELLWEGER after she prompted the
closure of one of the city's best kept secrets. Women have been flocking to a
store called Jenny's Bags for years to snap up illegal copies of designer
handbags made by the likes of Chanel. But the store has been closed down after
Zellweger raved about the emporium after discovering it on a visit to the
region. A local moans, "Because of Renee's big mouth, Jenny now has to move her
goods from place to place every day. This is terribly inconvenient as we all
want Chanel's latest model but don't want to spend thousands on the latest
article."

IN CHARACTER: Texan Renee Zellweger has perfected an English accent for her role
as Beatrix Potter, and has developed a
liking for cups of tea. HOLLYWOOD star Renee Zellweger is expected to start
filming Lakeland scenes in the new Beatrix Potter epic next week.
Fans of the actress are expected to descend on the area for the filming of Miss Potter. But producers are tight-lipped about precisely which locations will be used. In all 100 crew and actors are expected to be staying in the Lake District during an 11-day filming schedule.
But they have revealed that Ms Zellweger has developed a fondness for cups of tea and is struggling to shrug off her character’s English accent.
Unit publicist Susan d’Arcy, speaking from the set of Miss Potter in the Isle of Man, said: “She has worked very hard. She has got very involved. She never slips out of her English accent even when we stop filming.
“She loves English tea. Every time I see her she is dipping a tea bag into a mug.”
The crew have been in studios on the Isle of Man filming inside shots for Miss Potter, after filming in London and the Home Counties.
Ms
D’Arcy added: “We are looking forward to going outside. We want it to be lovely.
We have got to be a bit vague about where we are filming.
“It is a busy period in the Lakes and we have got a lot of work to get through.
It makes it difficult if there are a lot of people around.”
Most of the filming is understood to be taking place on National Trust
properties associated with the author.
In her will, Beatrice Potter bequeathed several farms near Coniston to the
trust, including her former home, Hill Top at Near Sawrey.
Ms. Zellweger, 37, who comes from Texas, is rumoured to be staying in a suite at
a luxurious Windermere hotel.

Now it's a party dress...
By: Lowri Williams
Unlucky in love Renee Zellweger is so desperate to keep on wearing her Carolina
Herrera wedding dress that she is having it drastically altered.
Zellweger wore the pearl coloured dress at her beach wedding to country music
star Kenny Chesney…however the marriage was annulled after just a few months of
marriage.
According to In Touch magazine, the designer gown has been shortened to just
above the knee and dyed a sapphire blue.
A friend of Zellweger’s said: "Renee didn't want to throw it away. Since she
knew she'd never wear it again as a wedding dress, she made it into something
she'd get some use out of."
Sounds like the right kind of dress to out on the pull with…

OSCAR-winner Renee Zellweger has moved from Bridget Jones's diary to another
famous woman of words. This first look at her latest film shows Zellweger as a
celebrated children's literary figure with the surname Potter.
A world away from Harry, though, Zellweger is starring as British author Beatrix
Potter, the creator of Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. A long-time fan of
Potter's books, Zellweger will be joined in Miss Potter by Ewan McGregor and
Emily Watson . Being filmed this month in London, the Isle of Man and the Lake
