Jot "gold" on your shopping list if "Be a goddess among goddesses" is among your "things to do" today.
Renee Zellweger, Scarlett Johannsson and Jamie Lynn DiScala jotted and shopped for theirs this week.
On red carpets everywhere, gold frocks rule for their Cinderella connotations and tendency to flash with every twitch. (Not for nothing was shimmery, slippery, coloured or cream satin adored before the superior flash of silver and gold were noticed.)
Fashion has helped recently by spinning gold into everything from tweed to knitting yarn and developing some remarkable fabrics, thin as leaf, and fashioned from tightly meshed, gossamer-thin, weft and weave threads. Lovely stuff.

New York, Apr 29 (ANI)
It was "The Party of the Year" and the "who's who" of the tinsel town donned
their eye-catching finest for the New York gala.
According to Hello magazine, Jennifer Lopez and Charlize Theron led the roster
of A-listers, adding their own brand of glitz to the Metropolitan Museum of
Art's annual Costume Institute celebration, this year entitled "Dangerous
Liaisons: Fashion And Furniture In The 18th Century".
Over 700 guests were encouraged to dress in the opulent style of the era, and
the Oscar winner Charlize was no exception with a bustier gown. Jennifer,
meanwhile, went back to her sexy Latina roots, wearing a black, transparent,
lace gown.
Lucy Liu and Natalie Portman both chose skin-revealing halter-neck gowns, but
liquid satin seemed to be one of the hottest trends of the night.
The guest list also included Scarlett Johannson, the event's co-chair Renee
Zellweger, Sophie Dahl, Jade Jagger, Stella Tennant and Stella McCartney

Renée Zellweger and Anthony Minghella in Tokyo |
Actress Renee Zellweger says that winning an Academy Award is pretty much as you would expect it to be--surreal.
Zellweger told a press conference at a Tokyo hotel on Tuesday that she was so overwhelmed when accepting the coveted prize for Best Supporting Actress at this year's Academy Awards ceremony that she can barely remember the experience.
"I was just thinking not to trip on my dress and fall when I was going up the stairs," said Zellweger, who won the prize for her role as a farmhand named Ruby in the U.S. Civil War drama Cold Mountain. "When I got up on stage everything seemed just like a still (from a movie)," she said. "I don't remember holding it. I don't remember where I put it. I don't remember what I said. But I guess it went okay because I haven't been reprimanded."
Zellweger added that to make sure the experience was real, she keeps the Oscar in her bedroom where she can see it when she wakes up in the morning.
The actress was accompanied by director Anthony Minghella. The pair were here to help promote the film for its Japan release on April 24.
Singer Pink to Star in Janis Joplin Biopic
April 2, 2004
Source: Variety
Alecia Moore, better known as the singer Pink, will make her screen starring
debut as Janis Joplin in a Penelope Spheeris-directed independent film that is
eyeing a summer start date.
Variety says that would likely put it ahead of Piece of My Heart, the Joplin
film being developed by Paramount and Lakeshore as a star vehicle for Renee
Zellweger.
While a newcomer to acting, Pink replicates Joplin's growling vocal style so
convincingly that it was decided she will sing the songs live in the film, adds
the trade. A soundtrack deal is now in the works with Artista, whose head, Clive
Davis, signed Joplin to her first major record contract.

DAUGHTER OF
PEARL Pink will play Janis |
[...] In the long-running battle to bring a biopic of Janis Joplin to the screen, Zellweger faces new competition from an actual rock singer: Pink. Variety reports that the artist formerly known as Alecia Moore has been cast as the 1960s blues-rock belter in director Penelope Spheeris' long-gestating biopic ''The Gospel According to Janis.'' Plus, she may get the party started before Zellweger does; Spheeris says she'll shoot her independently financed film this summer, while Zellweger's Paramount-backed ''Piece of My Heart'' doesn't yet have a director or a start date.
Spheeris, best known for such acclaimed rock documentaries as her ''Decline of Western Civilization'' movies, said in a statement: ''After trying to make a picture on Janis' life for 15 years, I'd call Alecia's screen test the most gratifying moment in my film career.'' She added of Pink: ''She is the perfect age to play Janis from when she first came to California at 19 to when she died at 27.'' Zellweger will turn 35 this month; on the other hand, she, like Joplin, is from Texas. (Pink is from Pennsylvania). And the ''Cold Mountain'' star also has an Oscar to her credit, while Pink's previous film experience is limited to a cameo in ''Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.'' Let the Joplin-off begin.
