LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Renee Zellweger wore Cartier jewelry to accessorize her Carolina Herrera dress at the 2005 Academy Awards. Renee Zellweger wore a platinum cut emerald diamond ring, diamond line necklace with emerald and oval cut diamonds, platinum emerald cut bracelet and platinum diamond bracelet. All jewels were provided by Cartier. The jewels were worn to accent her Carolina Herrera raspberry silk faille strapless gown with ivory tulle details. Sandals are by Manolo Blahnik and matching clutch by Judith Leiber.

HOLLYWOOD star Renee Zellweger and singer Damien Rice have enjoyed a string of secret dates.

The couple, who are both intensely private, have spent cosy evenings together at a pub in Rice's native Ireland.

They got together after the Bridget Jones star split from White Stripes rocker Jack White in November after an on-off two-year affair.

A source said: "Renee and Damien have been seeing each other for a while and they're both really happy.

"They share a mutual love of music and both are very deep thinkers.

"Renee is pretty intense and Damien is something of a poet so they're the perfect match."

Renee, 35, visited Dublin two weeks ago and stayed at the Clarance Hotel, owned by U2's Bono. She was spotted househunting in Galway with a female friend and minder, prompting speculation she wants a home nearer to Rice.

Several auctioneers have also been approached about finding a property for an "unnamed celebrity".

During another trip to Ireland last year - after downing pints of Guinness - she even joked about getting married to a stranger.

The source added: "They have been seen drinking in an Irish pub together and they certainly looked very cosy but it's early days."

Rice, who was born in County Kildare, was catapulted to stardom by his platinum-selling album called O and scooped the US equivalent of the Mercury prize two years ago.

The 34-year-old has just taken three months off for an extended holiday - which coincides with Renee's plans for a year-long break.

He was the lead singer in Irish rock band Juniper for eight years but quit to go busking around Europe.

Damien's spokesman could not confirm the couple were dating.

He said: "It is no secret that they know each other but Damien is an intensely private man and doesn't discuss his relationships." But Rice once revealed: "I'm in no rush to get married, though some day I would like to be a family man."

Movie characters like RENEE ZELLWEGER's BRIDGET JONES will be able to continue smoking on screen - following a rejection to ban footage of the habit in films.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) have overruled a call to stop movie characters from lighting up, because they believe smoke-free films would threaten the authenticity of many film plots.

BBFC spokeswoman SUE CLARKE says, "If you were making a film set in the trenches in the First World War, it would look very odd not to have been smoking."

It's getting ugly in the Bryant Park tents.

The paparazzi have been going bananas every time a star comes in for a show — no matter whether they're Hollywood A-list or overexposed C-list.

The shooters had less luck during Carolina Herrera's show early yesterday — Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger was well prepared.

The diminutive actress had a posse of five beefy guards in tow and they scrubbed the W Hotel's lounge clear of rubberneckers and staff before surrounding their charge in a protective cocoon as she moved to and from the show.

From glam to glum: That was W magazine cover girl Renee Zellweger looking decidedly unchic late Saturday afternoon as she shopped for curtains at Gracious Home on the upper East Side.

 A Lowdown spy reports: "Renee, incognito with messy brown hair and decked out in sweatpants, shopped alone for cream-colored curtains.

She was talking in a sweet, sweet quiet voice (her voice is her most recognizable feature), dressed down in sneaks and nothing designer, all alone. The exceedingly polite Renee, who also asked where she could find light bulbs, BlackBerried while she waited.

It seems her plans to set up house on the East Coast are full speed ahead."
